{"id":185468,"date":"2014-11-10T21:28:00","date_gmt":"2014-11-11T02:28:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2014\/11\/10\/what-the-hairy-one-said\/"},"modified":"2014-11-10T21:28:00","modified_gmt":"2014-11-11T02:28:00","slug":"what-the-hairy-one-said","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2014\/11\/10\/what-the-hairy-one-said\/","title":{"rendered":"What the Hairy One* Said"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My older brother, <strike>Sasquatch<\/strike> Stephen, makes a very good point about the tactics of ALEC (American Legislative Exchange Council), which is that while they are a bunch of evil mother f%$#ers who will be first up against the wall when the revolution comes, <a href=\"http:\/\/theinnerwalls.blogspot.com\/2014\/11\/democrats-and-alec.html?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+TheInnerWalls+%28the+inner+walls%29&amp;utm_content=FaceBook\">their tactics viewed in isolation are in fact both laudable and effective<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">In the well duh category, the Huffington Post recently posted an article entitled Democrats Create An ALEC-Killer.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span> <span style=\"color: blue;\">Gee, often I have heard the cries about these dark, underhanded, suspicious tactics of this group.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span> <span style=\"color: blue;\">And what are these tactics, why  the Republicans have organized a right-wing group to push for its policies at the state level, providing political discipline, they create draft statutes, coordinate activities,  and support people who agree with them across the spectrum.  And all this has worked for them very well over the last decade.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span> <span style=\"color: blue;\">You know, this is called <b><span style=\"font-size: 100%; font-variant: small-caps;\">activism<\/span><\/b>.  I once tried to point this out at a MoveOn meeting I was stupid enough to attend.
