{"id":185849,"date":"2014-08-03T20:51:00","date_gmt":"2014-08-04T01:51:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2014\/08\/03\/of-course-obama-expresses-confidence-in-john-brennan\/"},"modified":"2014-08-03T20:51:00","modified_gmt":"2014-08-04T01:51:00","slug":"of-course-obama-expresses-confidence-in-john-brennan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2014\/08\/03\/of-course-obama-expresses-confidence-in-john-brennan\/","title":{"rendered":"Of Course Obama Expresses Confidence in John Brennan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Because Barack Obama has made it quite clear that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2014\/08\/02\/us\/obama-expresses-confidence-in-cia-director.html\">spying on Congress and shilling for torturers is no big deal<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">President Obama said on Friday that he has \u201cfull confidence\u201d in John Brennan, the director of the C.I.A., despite Mr. Brennan\u2019s admission this week that his agency improperly searched the computers of the congressional committee that is preparing to release a report on the use of torture in the fight against terror.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">\u2026\u2026\u2026<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">Asked about the upcoming release of a report that documents American interrogation techniques, Mr. Obama said the C.I.A. exercised \u201cvery poor judgment\u201d in its handling of the report. But he said that Mr. Brennan had apologized for the incident to Senator Dianne Feinstein, the chairwoman of the Senate Intelligence Committee.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">\u201cI have full confidence in John Brennan,\u201d Mr. Obama said, noting an inspector general\u2019s conclusions about the C.I.A. spying on the committee. \u201cIt\u2019s clear from the I.G. report that some very poor judgment was shown in how that was handled.
