{"id":186525,"date":"2013-12-30T20:46:00","date_gmt":"2013-12-31T01:46:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2013\/12\/30\/not-enough-bullets-62\/"},"modified":"2013-12-30T20:46:00","modified_gmt":"2013-12-31T01:46:00","slug":"not-enough-bullets-62","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2013\/12\/30\/not-enough-bullets-62\/","title":{"rendered":"Not Enough Bullets"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"border: 1px solid black; float: right; margin: 0px 10px; padding: 5px; text-align: center; width: 300px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/R7jcO9D.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" bordercolor=\"white\" src=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/R7jcO9D.jpg\" width=\"290\" \/><\/a><br \/><i>Image from Because Finance is Boring<\/i><\/div>\n<p>If you look at direct and indirect subsidies to the big banks, it appears that <a href=\"http:\/\/becausefinanceisboring.com\/post\/71111038392\/no-shame-91-billion-in-bonuses-83-billion-in\">taxpayers are paying for the Bankster&#8217;s bonuses<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: purple;\">Earlier this year, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/2013-02-24\/remember-that-83-billion-bank-subsidy-we-weren-t-kidding.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bloomberg<\/a> calculated that the top 10 U.S. banks r<b>eceive a $83 billion a <i>year<\/i> in subsidies from the government<\/b>, due to their cheap cost of funding &amp; the preferential treatment creditors give them because they assume the government sees them as TBTF.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: purple;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: purple;\">In November, a <a href=\"http:\/\/dealbook.nytimes.com\/2013\/11\/06\/wall-st-bonuses-over-all-are-predicted-to-rise-5-to-10-bond-traders-excluded\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYT analysis<\/a> of a Johnson Associates <a href=\"http:\/\/www.johnsonassociates.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Wall-Street-2013-Bonuses-Release-Final.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">survey<\/a> found that <b>the top <i>eight<\/i> U.S. banks set aside $91.44 billion for bonuses in 2013.<\/b><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Note that this does <b>not<\/b> include other subsides (hello, Federal Reserve, etc.)<\/p>\n<p>To paraphrase Samuel L.
