{"id":186717,"date":"2013-11-06T21:56:00","date_gmt":"2013-11-07T02:56:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2013\/11\/06\/give-snowden-a-medal-and-a-6-figure-pension-already\/"},"modified":"2013-11-06T21:56:00","modified_gmt":"2013-11-07T02:56:00","slug":"give-snowden-a-medal-and-a-6-figure-pension-already","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2013\/11\/06\/give-snowden-a-medal-and-a-6-figure-pension-already\/","title":{"rendered":"Give Snowden a Medal and a 6-Figure Pension, Already"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Surprise!  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/headline\/2013\/11\/01-4\">Snowden&#8217;s actions have inspired other whistle blowers<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">The &#8220;courage&#8221; of Edward Snowden is &#8220;contagious,&#8221; according to lawyer  and transparency advocate Jesselyn Radack, who says that additional  employees at the National Security Agency are now coming forward with  what they consider objectionable practices by their employer.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/blogs\/headlines\/2013\/10\/more-nsa-leakers-followed-snowdens-footsteps-whistleblower-lawyer-says\/\">In an interview with <i>ABC News<\/i><\/a>  on Thursday, Raddack revealed that an influx of NSA whistleblowers,  inspired by Snowden, are now knocking on the doors of her organization.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">According to Radack, several more whistleblowers have approached the  Government Accountability Project (GAP)\u2014the nation&#8217;s leading  whistleblower protection and advocacy organization where she is the  director of National Security and Human Rights\u2014since Snowden&#8217;s story  broke earlier this year.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">\u201cThere definitely could be more revelations in addition to those that  Snowden has revealed and that are continuing to come out,\u201d she told <i>ABC News<\/i>.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/view\/2013\/10\/10-9\">The Obama administration&#8217;s &#8220;war on whistleblowers&#8221;<\/a> is backfiring, said Radack.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">\u201cI think the government hopes to chill speech by employees in the  national security and intelligence fields, especially those at the NSA  and CIA, but the unintended consequence is [that] more and more  whistleblowers are coming through the doors of the Government  Accountability Project (GAP),\u201d&nbsp; said Radack. \u201cI think courage is  contagious, and we see more and more people from the NSA coming through  our door after Snowden made these revelations.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Courage is contagious. <\/p>\n<p>This must be Barack Obama&#8217;s worst nightmare.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Surprise!
