{"id":186914,"date":"2013-08-24T21:30:00","date_gmt":"2013-08-25T02:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2013\/08\/24\/burying-the-lede-6\/"},"modified":"2013-08-24T21:30:00","modified_gmt":"2013-08-25T02:30:00","slug":"burying-the-lede-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2013\/08\/24\/burying-the-lede-6\/","title":{"rendered":"Burying the Lede"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In an article on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aviationweek.com\/awin\/ArticlesStory.aspx?id=\/article-xml\/AW_08_26_2013_p18-609191.xml\">Korean fighter purchase plans<\/a>, there is a lot of discussion about their next fighter purchase:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">Boeing&#8217;s F-15SE Silent Eagle has been selected as the only qualified bidder in South Korea&#8217;s F-X Phase 3 competition for 60 fighters\u2014but the country&#8217;s air force is lobbying to overturn the decision in favor of the Lockheed Martin F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span> <span style=\"color: blue;\">A win in South Korea would extend the F-15 production line into the next decade and launch an improved version that could compete for future fighter requirements in the 2020s.
