{"id":186951,"date":"2013-08-13T18:16:00","date_gmt":"2013-08-13T23:16:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2013\/08\/13\/this-is-not-going-to-end-well-4\/"},"modified":"2013-08-13T18:16:00","modified_gmt":"2013-08-13T23:16:00","slug":"this-is-not-going-to-end-well-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2013\/08\/13\/this-is-not-going-to-end-well-4\/","title":{"rendered":"This is Not Going to End Well\u2026\u2026\u2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The regular reader(s) of my blog may be aware of my travails with RP the feral cat.<sup>*<\/sup><\/p>\n<p>The short version is that we caught her in a Have-a-Heart trap, and brought her in.<\/p>\n<p>When I let her out she freaked, and ran into the basement ceiling, but not <a href=\"http:\/\/40yrs.blogspot.com\/2011\/12\/it-appears-that-i-do-have-time-to-bleed.html\">before biting me and giving me puncture wounds <b><span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">through oven mitts<\/span><\/b><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The next day, <a href=\"http:\/\/40yrs.blogspot.com\/2011\/12\/all-that-blood-so-little-cat.html\">I saw her outside<\/a>, so she figured a way out of the house.<\/p>\n<p>When we got our cats, RP continued to come into the house somehow, and eat our cats food.  (Video <a href=\"http:\/\/40yrs.blogspot.com\/2012\/02\/i-have-cat-infestation.html\">here<\/a>) We still haven&#8217;t figured out how she does that.<\/p>\n<p>A few weeks after that, RP fell out of the ceiling, and I caught her, and she <b>peed on me<\/b> and clawed the hell out of me.&nbsp; (I did not blog on that particular affront to my already limited dignity)<\/p>\n<p>I even <a href=\"http:\/\/40yrs.blogspot.com\/2012\/11\/who-knew-that-i-would-be-proprietor-of.html\">made a cat shelter outside<\/a> in the vain hope of giving her an alternative to going into the house.  No such luck.<\/p>\n<p>Well, this morning, I got a call from Sharon<sup>\u2020<\/sup>.  RP was in the house, and had lured our kitten Destructo into the ceiling.<\/p>\n<p>The kitten had gotten stuck (or maybe just confused)and was panicking, and my wife and kids had to reach into the suspended ceiling to get him out.<\/p>\n<p>While this was going on, RP was watching with what my wife describe as smug amusement.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s on.  It is <b><span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">totally<\/span><\/b> on.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m halfway through cobbling together a trap made from the cat travel cage and the aforementioned Have-a-Heart trap, and if it works, we will either try to tame the cat, or take to a shelter and get it the f%$# out of our neighborhood \u2026\u2026\u2026 and <b>my house<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>I do realize that I have been channeling Robert Redford playing John Dortmunder in the 1972 film, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0068718\/quotes?item=qt0198216\"><i>The Hot Rock<\/i><\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\"><b>Dortmunder<\/b>: Not me. I&#8217;ve got no choice. I&#8217;m not superstitious. And I don&#8217;t believe in jinxes, but that stone&#8217;s jinxed me and it won&#8217;t let go. I&#8217;ve been damned near bitten, shot at, peed on and robbed. And worse is gonna happen before it&#8217;s done. So I&#8217;m takin&#8217; my stand. I&#8217;m going all the way. Either I get it, or it gets me.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Considering my record with this cat, I can only conclude that the chances are remarkably good that it will get me.<\/p>\n<p>There is a part of me that fears I am so going to get killed or maimed by this f%$#ing cat. <\/p>\n<p><sup>*<\/sup><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\">RP stands for Rodentia Phage, or Ravage and Pillage, or maybe just RP.
