{"id":187081,"date":"2013-06-25T19:43:00","date_gmt":"2013-06-26T00:43:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2013\/06\/25\/props-to-gary-gensler\/"},"modified":"2013-06-25T19:43:00","modified_gmt":"2013-06-26T00:43:00","slug":"props-to-gary-gensler","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2013\/06\/25\/props-to-gary-gensler\/","title":{"rendered":"Props to Gary Gensler\u2026\u2026\u2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>He&#8217;s been <a href=\"http:\/\/40yrs.blogspot.com\/2013\/06\/and-while-we-are-on-subject-of-obama.html\">canned by the Obama administration<\/a> for being too hard on the banksters, but on the way out, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ifre.com\/closing-loophole-could-cost-us-banks-millions\/21092504.article\">is implementing the meaningful derivatives reforms for which he was fired<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">US regulators are likely to close a crucial loophole in Dodd-Frank rules in the next few weeks, in a move that will cost US banks many millions of dollars of revenues in the US$640trn derivatives market.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">Several sources familiar with the internal discussions at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission say that the current exemption \u2013 which allows US banks executing derivative trades outside the country to bypass tougher capital holding and reporting requirements \u2013 will be allowed to expire on July 12.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">CFTC chairman Gary Gensler, the only person with the authority to call a vote on extending the exemption, is said to oppose any extension and a spokesman confirmed that no vote had been scheduled.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: blue;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"color: blue;\">\u201cHe\u2019s determined not to extend,\u201d said a lawyer familiar with discussions between lobbyists and the chairman. \u201cAnd if it\u2019s true that Gensler is leaving, maybe he wants this to be his final act before leaving.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This is clearly a very large f%$# you to Barack Obama, Jack Lew, and (particularly) Timothy Geithner, and it is a well deserved f%$# you.<\/p>\n<p>Obama and his and His Evil Minions<sup>\u2122<\/sup> have been determined to subvert meaningful banking regulations, and it&#8217;s nice that <b>someone<\/b> is standing up to him.<\/p>\n<p>It will cost the banks some money, but I do not care:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: blue;\">If the exemption expires, all swaps deals involving US banks would be subject to the Dodd-Frank rules.
