{"id":187570,"date":"2011-05-16T21:23:00","date_gmt":"2011-05-17T02:23:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2011\/05\/16\/john-ensign\/"},"modified":"2011-05-16T21:23:00","modified_gmt":"2011-05-17T02:23:00","slug":"john-ensign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2011\/05\/16\/john-ensign\/","title":{"rendered":"John ensign"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>First, his former best friend, and the husband of the woman that John Ensign f%$#ed, Doug Hampton, <a href=\"http:\/\/tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com\/2011\/03\/former_ensign_love_triangle_aide_indicted_for_post.php\">has been indicted for violating lobbying laws and conflict of interest laws<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The could get interesting if he decides to drop a dime on Ensign and the rest of his co-conspirators.<\/p>\n<p>It does appear though that John Ensign is incredibly busted, since the <a href=\"http:\/\/tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com\/2011\/05\/senate-ethics-panel-ensign-sex-scandal-may-have-broken-us-ethics-laws-we-have-forwarded-ensign-findi.php\">normally toothless Senate Ethics committee voted to make a criminal referral to the DoJ<\/a>, and the special prosecutor they appointed to investigated recommended that he be expelled from the Senate.<\/p>\n<p>BTW, speaking of co-conspirators, it appears that <a href=\"http:\/\/tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com\/2011\/05\/tom_coburn_denies_negotiating_cash_payout_for_john_ensigns_mistress_and_her_husband.php\">Senator Coburn was hip deep in negotiating the specifics of the payoffs to Hampton and his wife<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Assuming that the Department of Justice has the stomach for it pulling on this string<sup>*<\/sup> will unravel a lot more than just a Senator boinking a staffer.<\/p>\n<p>Pass the popcorn.<\/p>\n<p><sup>*<\/sup><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\">I think that they <b>don&#8217;t<\/b> because of their mishandling of the Ted  Stevens prosecution and because of a general Obama administration policy  to let things slide  when they involve Republican law breaking.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>First, his former best friend, and the husband of the woman that John Ensign f%$#ed, Doug Hampton, has been indicted for violating lobbying laws and conflict of interest laws.
