{"id":187761,"date":"2011-03-10T21:00:00","date_gmt":"2011-03-11T02:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2011\/03\/10\/scott-walkers-kill-the-unions-bill-heads-for-his-desk\/"},"modified":"2011-03-10T21:00:00","modified_gmt":"2011-03-11T02:00:00","slug":"scott-walkers-kill-the-unions-bill-heads-for-his-desk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2011\/03\/10\/scott-walkers-kill-the-unions-bill-heads-for-his-desk\/","title":{"rendered":"Scott Walker&#8217;s Kill the Unions Bill Heads for His Desk"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The lower house of the legislature <a href=\"http:\/\/host.madison.com\/wsj\/news\/local\/govt-and-politics\/article_4821b170-4b60-11e0-9fba-001cc4c002e0.html\">passed it today<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There are some real questions as to whether this is is legal, so the Wisconsin Supreme Court, currently 4-3 Republican, may very well have the final word.<\/p>\n<p>The reason that this is important is that Wisconsin elects its supreme court justices in partisan elections, and there is an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jsonline.com\/news\/statepolitics\/116288374.html\">election on&nbsp; is April 5 with Democrat JoAnne Kloppenburg facing incumbent Republican David Prosser<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Given that this is generally a low turnout sort of election, and that liberal groups are flooding the zone generally right now, the Dem has a real chance of winning, particularly because Prosser was one of the people who chose to ignore the US Supreme Court ruling and let a fellow state Supreme Court judge off for not recusing himself when a major donor to his campaign appeared before him.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The lower house of the legislature passed it today.
