{"id":188088,"date":"2010-12-14T21:04:00","date_gmt":"2010-12-15T02:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2010\/12\/14\/this-aint-a-bad-thing\/"},"modified":"2010-12-14T21:04:00","modified_gmt":"2010-12-15T02:04:00","slug":"this-aint-a-bad-thing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2010\/12\/14\/this-aint-a-bad-thing\/","title":{"rendered":"This Ain&#8217;t a Bad Thing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/img406.imageshack.us\/img406\/9249\/4616755164902290b47cd92vi5.gif\" style=\"cursor: pointer; float: right; margin: 0px 0px 10px 10px;\" \/>The folks at the <i>Financial Times<\/i> blog, FT Alphaville, are <a href=\"http:\/\/ftalphaville.ft.com\/blog\/2010\/12\/14\/436281\/uk-inflation-still-rising-2\/\">running around like chickens with their heads cut off because inflation is approaching 3\u00bc%<\/a>:.<\/p>\n<p>They refer to the number as &#8220;dismal&#8221;, and note that, &#8220;While today\u2019s reading won\u2019t surprise the BoE \u2014 it expects inflation to average 3.2 to 3.3 per cent in the fourth quarter and circa 3.5 per cent early in 2011 \u2014 there\u2019s bound to be (further scepticism) that the inflation genie will be back in the bottle by the end of 2011.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>These are people who do not understand.<\/p>\n<p>This financial crisis is because too many people owe too much debt, and lack the wherewithal to dig themselves out of this hole.<\/p>\n<p>Inflation serves to <b>devalue the currency and so devalue the debt<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not a bad thing when we are in a liquidity trap, it&#8217;s a good thing.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s more than a good thing, it&#8217;s essential to recovery.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The folks at the Financial Times blog, FT Alphaville, are running around like chickens with their heads cut off because inflation is approaching 3\u00bc%:.
