{"id":188465,"date":"2010-09-21T18:26:00","date_gmt":"2010-09-21T23:26:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2010\/09\/21\/cloture-fails-on-dadt-in-senate-thanks-barry\/"},"modified":"2010-09-21T18:26:00","modified_gmt":"2010-09-21T23:26:00","slug":"cloture-fails-on-dadt-in-senate-thanks-barry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2010\/09\/21\/cloture-fails-on-dadt-in-senate-thanks-barry\/","title":{"rendered":"Cloture Fails on DADT in Senate, Thanks Barry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/img36.imageshack.us\/img36\/4838\/lucyfootball8950832.jpg\" style=\"margin: 0px 0px 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer;\" width=\"300\" \/>So the Republicans <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/news\/nationworld\/nation\/la-pn-gays-military-20100922,0,4738292.story\">successfully filibustered the Defense authorization bill<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not surprising given the full court press that we <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">didn&#8217;t<\/span> hear coming from the White House.<\/p>\n<p>When one considers the fact that the Obama Department of Justice <a href=\"http:\/\/www.americablog.com\/2009\/06\/obama-justice-department-defends-doma.html\">submitted a legal brief equating homosexuality with incest<\/a>, his administration <a href=\"http:\/\/40yrs.blogspot.com\/2009\/12\/barack-obama-hating-te-gay-since-2007.html\">defied a judges order to provide health benefits for a same sex spouse<\/a>, and his <a href=\"http:\/\/40yrs.blogspot.com\/search?q=mcclurkin\">campaign had an anti gay bigot front a campaign concert<\/a>, one begins to wonder whether is inaction on DADT is more than cowardice, or whether he actually has a problem with &#8220;th ghay&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>To paraphrase Kanye West, I&#8217;m beginning to wonder if &#8220;Barack Obama doesn&#8217;t care about gay people,&#8221; because it&#8217;s clear that the Obama administration antipathy to being seen as pro-LGBT at this point is <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">both<\/span> bad politics, it loses votes, <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">and<\/span> bad policy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So the Republicans successfully filibustered the Defense authorization bill.
