{"id":188719,"date":"2010-08-07T06:28:00","date_gmt":"2010-08-07T11:28:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2010\/08\/07\/us-aerospace-antonov-out-of-kcx-competition\/"},"modified":"2010-08-07T06:28:00","modified_gmt":"2010-08-07T11:28:00","slug":"us-aerospace-antonov-out-of-kcx-competition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2010\/08\/07\/us-aerospace-antonov-out-of-kcx-competition\/","title":{"rendered":"US Aerospace\/Antonov Out of KCX Competition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rather unsurprisingly, they <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aviationweek.com\/aw\/blogs\/defense\/index.jsp?plckController=Blog&amp;plckScript=blogScript&amp;plckElementId=blogDest&amp;plckBlogPage=BlogViewPost&amp;plckPostId=Blog%3A27ec4a53-dcc8-42d0-bd3a-01329aef79a7Post%3Afeac084d-2d30-45e3-a979-02732180df3f\">missed the deadline<\/a>, which is not surprising, since they seemed not ready for prime time.<\/p>\n<p>Equally unsurprising is the fact that they have <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flightglobal.com\/blogs\/the-dewline\/2010\/08\/kc-x-competition-hit-by-gao-pr.html\">filed a protest with the GAO<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The cynic in me wonders if that was not the intention the whole time, to kinda file, and then use a GEO protest as a way to generate some ransom money.<\/p>\n<p>Then again, now that the details have come out, the messenger <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aviationweek.com\/aw\/blogs\/defense\/index.jsp?plckController=Blog&amp;plckScript=blogScript&amp;plckElementId=blogDest&amp;plckBlogPage=BlogViewPost&amp;plckPostId=Blog%3A27ec4a53-dcc8-42d0-bd3a-01329aef79a7Post%3A2c0d30ce-8678-4942-a9e8-507325c34e2b\">showed up at the gate at 1:30, was delayed there, and then given bad directions by the gate guards<\/a>, resulting in a 2:05 stamp, 5 minutes late, perhaps it is incompetence, or maybe the USAF had enough of this crap, and decided to play some hardball as US Aerospace claims.<\/p>\n<p>Pass the popcorn.<\/p>\n<p>You might as well watch.
