{"id":189107,"date":"2010-05-21T16:57:00","date_gmt":"2010-05-21T21:57:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2010\/05\/21\/good-politics-good-policy\/"},"modified":"2010-05-21T16:57:00","modified_gmt":"2010-05-21T21:57:00","slug":"good-politics-good-policy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2010\/05\/21\/good-politics-good-policy\/","title":{"rendered":"Good Politics, Good Policy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Democrats in the New Jersey statehouse have <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/apps\/news?pid=20601087&amp;sid=aGC.AWQ0AUGI&amp;pos=8\">passed a bill to raise income taxes on people earning more than $1 million a year<\/a>, and predictably, the wingnut governor is promising a veto:<\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 153);\"><p>Lawmakers in New Jersey\u2019s Democrat- controlled Assembly voted to raise income taxes on residents earning at least $1 million a year, as Republican Governor Chris Christie said he\u2019d veto the bill.<\/p>\n<p>The chamber passed the measure 46-32 in a vote that broke down along party lines. Of 33 Republicans, 32 voted no.
