{"id":189168,"date":"2010-05-12T17:06:00","date_gmt":"2010-05-12T22:06:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2010\/05\/12\/not-a-surprise-29\/"},"modified":"2010-05-12T17:06:00","modified_gmt":"2010-05-12T22:06:00","slug":"not-a-surprise-29","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2010\/05\/12\/not-a-surprise-29\/","title":{"rendered":"Not A Surprise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It turns out that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/\/id\/37116803\">76% of the American public believe that we are still in a recession<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Considering that unemployment, even by the rather low U-3 number is around 10%, this is not surprising.<\/p>\n<p>The reality is that we are still in a hole, and 2% annual won&#8217;t get us out of this hole for at least a decade.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, the <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><span style=\"font-style: italic;\"><span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">very serious people<\/span><\/span><\/span> in Washington, DC think that the deficit is over, so now they are going to slam on the brakes to get the deficit down.<\/p>\n<p>There have been persistent problems with lead levels in Washington, DC&#8217;s water supply.<\/p>\n<p>While correlation does not prove causation, it does make one wonder.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It turns out that 76% of the American public believe that we are still in a recession.
