{"id":189258,"date":"2010-04-27T22:17:00","date_gmt":"2010-04-28T03:17:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2010\/04\/27\/im-henry-viii-i-am\/"},"modified":"2010-04-27T22:17:00","modified_gmt":"2010-04-28T03:17:00","slug":"im-henry-viii-i-am","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2010\/04\/27\/im-henry-viii-i-am\/","title":{"rendered":"I&#8217;m Henry VIII I Am"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well, not exactly, but it appears that my <a href=\"http:\/\/40yrs.blogspot.com\/2010\/04\/i-hate-doxycycline.html\">2 weeks on Doxycycline<\/a> has given me gout in my left big toe.<\/p>\n<p>One of the triggers for gout is a sterile digestive tract, which the drug has delivered in spades.<\/p>\n<p>I went to the urgent care clinic, and after a bit of a wait, got a quick diagnosis from the doctor.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m on Indocin, which is basically industrial strength Ibuprofen, and Colchicine, which is some weird stuff derived from the Autumn crocus.<\/p>\n<p>The instructions for Colchicine say, &#8220;Take 1-2 tablets every 2 hours until pain stops, or nausea-vomiting-diarrhea.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I just the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Colchicine\">Wiki on Colchicine<\/a>.  Great googly moogly.  This is <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">nasty<\/span> stuff, as in a fairly potent cellular toxin when used to excess..<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m taking my meds, and another acidophilus to deal with the &#8220;sterile digestive tract,&#8221; and heading to bed, thank you very much.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Well, not exactly, but it appears that my 2 weeks on Doxycycline has given me gout in my left big toe.
