{"id":190067,"date":"2010-01-10T18:45:00","date_gmt":"2010-01-10T23:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2010\/01\/10\/the-massachusetts-senate-race-just-got-weird\/"},"modified":"2010-01-10T18:45:00","modified_gmt":"2010-01-10T23:45:00","slug":"the-massachusetts-senate-race-just-got-weird","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2010\/01\/10\/the-massachusetts-senate-race-just-got-weird\/","title":{"rendered":"The Massachusetts Senate Race Just Got Weird"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The normal part is a <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Boston Globe<\/span> poll that has Democratic candidate Martha <span>Coakley<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/boston.com\/news\/local\/massachusetts\/articles\/2010\/01\/10\/senate_poll_coakley_up_15_points\/\">holding a solid 15 point<\/a> lead over Republican Scott Brown, which is unsurprising in this solidly blue state, but Public Policy Polling shows <a href=\"http:\/\/tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com\/2010\/01\/poll-ma-sen-race-is-a-toss-up----goper-brown-has-one-point-edge.php?ref=dcblt\">Brown with a 1 point lead<\/a>, indicating that the real issue here is whether or not the Democrats can mobilize a <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">thoroughly<\/span> demoralized base.<\/p>\n<p>The difference here has to be the criteria for likely voters.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s a bit odd, but the fact that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cosmopolitan.com\/celebrity\/news\/scott-brown-nude-in-cosmo\">Scott Brown Posed Nude in <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Cosmopolitan Magazine<\/span><\/a> in 1982.
