Personal insolvencies in the UK <a href=\"http:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/business\/news\/personal-insolvencies-rise-to-new-record-as-unemployment-bites-1816693.html\">just rose to a new record<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In the US, <a href=\"http:\/\/money.cnn.com\/2009\/11\/09\/smallbusiness\/advanta_bankruptcy\/index.htm?section=money_topstories\">Advanta filed for bankruptcy<\/a>, which may seem like a minor thing, except for the fact that they were a <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">huge<\/span> player in small business credit cards, or rather, they were until they <a href=\"http:\/\/40yrs.blogspot.com\/2009\/05\/economics-update_12.html\">shut that down because of excessive defaults<\/a> in May.<\/p>\n<p>In energy, <a href=\"http:\/\/money.cnn.com\/2009\/11\/09\/markets\/oil\/\">oil rose<\/a>, largely on concerns about the potential effects of Tropical Storm Ida, and in currency, the IMF is suggesting that the Dollar has a way to go, so <a href=\"http:\/\/money.cnn.com\/2009\/11\/09\/markets\/dollar\/index.htm\">the dollar went down<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s not just bankruptcies in the US that are on the rise.
