{"id":191004,"date":"2009-10-07T09:46:00","date_gmt":"2009-10-07T14:46:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2009\/10\/07\/so-we-have-another-paleocon-moron-wishing-for-another-911\/"},"modified":"2009-10-07T09:46:00","modified_gmt":"2009-10-07T14:46:00","slug":"so-we-have-another-paleocon-moron-wishing-for-another-911","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2009\/10\/07\/so-we-have-another-paleocon-moron-wishing-for-another-911\/","title":{"rendered":"So, We Have Another Paleocon* Moron Wishing for Another 911"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We have Gregory Rodriguez penning a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/news\/opinion\/la-oe-rodriguez5-2009oct05,0,7121721.column\">paean to the unity following 911<\/a>, and suggesting very strongly what we need is to be <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">very<\/span> frightened about al Qaeda when he asks, &#8220;Where is Osama bin Laden when we need him?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>You see, he thinks that we need some of that good old post-911 unity, you know that wonderful stuff that Republicans used to :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pass the PATRIOT Act.<\/li>\n<li>Invade Iraq.<\/li>\n<li>Illegally wiretap ordinary Americans.<\/li>\n<li>Become torturer to the world.<\/li>\n<li>To use the post 911 unity almost exclusively for Republican partisan political advantage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>His conclusion:<\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 153);\"><p>In the meantime, we all but ignored Bin Laden&#8217;s most recent tape, and attention to the arrest and indictment of Afghan Denverite Najibullah Zazi on WMD conspiracy charges has been surprisingly low-key. Such blase responses to our true enemies set us up for self-destruction, until we once again find out the hard way that we&#8217;re all Americans.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The reason that this is low key is because it <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">should<\/span> be low key, because Bush and His Evil Minions<sup>\u2122<\/sup> are no longer juicing every half baked tyro with half a terrorism plan and multicolored terror alerts.<\/p>\n<p>The reason that this is low key is because it is Barack Obama, for all the complaints about him, <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">is not Karl Rove<\/span>, and does not see terrorizing the American public into supporting him as a legitimate goal of anti-terror policy.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s no wonder that quotes Samuel P. Huntington glowingly when suggesting that there is a need for an external enemy in order to create unity in society.<\/p>\n<p>This is the same Samuel Huntington, whose <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">entire career<\/span>, and perhaps his entire life, to finding people to hate, whether it was the Arab Muslim (<span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Clash of Civilizations<\/span>), the brown mestizo Mexican (<span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Who Are We?
