{"id":191012,"date":"2009-10-06T09:41:00","date_gmt":"2009-10-06T14:41:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2009\/10\/06\/this-wont-criminalize-anyone\/"},"modified":"2009-10-06T09:41:00","modified_gmt":"2009-10-06T14:41:00","slug":"this-wont-criminalize-anyone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2009\/10\/06\/this-wont-criminalize-anyone\/","title":{"rendered":"This Won&#8217;t Criminalize Anyone"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The recent moves to curb secrecy in private banking does not make any a criminal, it simply makes <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/apps\/news?pid=20603037&amp;sid=aYE_NxHQ6plQ\">catching the crooks easier<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 153);\"><p>European leaders should give up the attack on Swiss banking secrecy and accept a withholding tax on foreigners to avoid criminalizing wealthy taxpayers, said Konrad Hummler, managing partner of Switzerland\u2019s oldest private bank.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf there is really a desire to criminalize part of the elite in European countries, then it would be a bigger problem for these countries than for Switzerland,\u201d Konrad Hummler said in an interview at the offices of Wegelin &amp; Co. in Zurich.
