{"id":191205,"date":"2009-09-12T21:42:00","date_gmt":"2009-09-13T02:42:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2009\/09\/12\/best-snark-of-the-day\/"},"modified":"2009-09-12T21:42:00","modified_gmt":"2009-09-13T02:42:00","slug":"best-snark-of-the-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2009\/09\/12\/best-snark-of-the-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Best Snark of the Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Actually, it was about 2 weeks ago, and I just stumbled across it.<\/p>\n<p>Jack McHugh, upon discovering that Ben Bernanke was the victim of identity theft, (his wife&#8217;s purse was stolen, and the contents were used to forge his identity) <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ritholtz.com\/blog\/2009\/08\/bernankes-identity-theft-a-shame-on-many-levels\/\">had this thought<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 153);\">To the criminal who actually stole Ms. Bernanke\u2019s purse and is still at large, I offer this piece of advice. Before turning yourself in, do yourself and your country a favor by handing Mr. Bernanke\u2019s identity information to <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">someone like Paul Volcker<\/span>. You\u2019ll get a shorter sentence and your country will benefit. Speculation would be tamed, and long term inflation expectations would probably fall far enough to shrink the budget deficit by obviating the need for more bond purchases. If someone else must possess the Chairman\u2019s identity, who other than Mr. Volcker would be more responsible in assuming it? We\u2019ll need Volcker\u2019s tough-mindedness to stare down Congress if we are to ever exit all these stimulus programs. It\u2019s a shame that the Mr. Bernanke had his identity stolen last fall, but <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">the tragedy is that someone didn\u2019t steal Mr. Greenspan\u2019s in the 1990\u2019s<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Word!!!!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Actually, it was about 2 weeks ago, and I just stumbled across it.
