{"id":192177,"date":"2009-05-01T17:16:00","date_gmt":"2009-05-01T22:16:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2009\/05\/01\/remind-me-never-to-play-poker-with-barack-obama\/"},"modified":"2009-05-01T17:16:00","modified_gmt":"2009-05-01T22:16:00","slug":"remind-me-never-to-play-poker-with-barack-obama","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2009\/05\/01\/remind-me-never-to-play-poker-with-barack-obama\/","title":{"rendered":"Remind Me Never to Play Poker With Barack Obama"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Because that&#8217;s just what happened with the Chrysler bankruptcy, as this article titled <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/apps\/news?pid=20601087&amp;sid=aowmZkX0TzEE&amp;refer=home\"><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Chrysler Lenders Tried Obama\u2019s Patience, Lost Game of Chicken<\/span><\/a> shows.<\/p>\n<p>They are making noises  about how unfairly they have been treated: <\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 153);\"><p>An anonymous group of 20 Chrysler lenders calling itself the \u201cCommittee of Chrysler Non-Tarp Lenders\u201d said in a statement yesterday that they\u2019d been treated worse than junior creditors during negotiations in violation of \u201clong-recognized legal and business principles.\u201d They said they were owed $1 billion.     <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And they are technically correct that they are secured creditors, but their security is not equal the full value of the loans, more like 10-20% of the outstanding amount, and they are vulture capitalists who intended this shakedown in the first place, as evidence by the fact that they, &#8220;paid from 50 cents to 70 cents on the dollar for their Chrysler loans,&#8221; (my money is actually on their purchasing this debt for less than 50\u00a2 on the dollar).<\/p>\n<p>Now they are whining, and they are the ones who will be taken into court and have the fingers pointed at them.<\/p>\n<p>This is a very big shot across the bow for creditors for General Motors.<\/p>\n<p>In completely unrelated auto news, the April sales figures are out, and <a href=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/article\/SB124119420214677663.html\">they are bleak<\/a>, with GM -33%, Ford -32%, Honda -25%, Nissan -38%, Hyundai -14%, Daimler -31%, and Toyota -42% year over year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Because that&#8217;s just what happened with the Chrysler bankruptcy, as this article titled Chrysler Lenders Tried Obama\u2019s Patience, Lost Game of Chicken shows.
