{"id":192209,"date":"2009-04-28T17:22:00","date_gmt":"2009-04-28T22:22:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2009\/04\/28\/stress-test-update\/"},"modified":"2009-04-28T17:22:00","modified_gmt":"2009-04-28T22:22:00","slug":"stress-test-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2009\/04\/28\/stress-test-update\/","title":{"rendered":"Stress Test Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are already getting reports, and the latest is that <a href=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/article_email\/SB124088901025362487-lMyQjAxMDI5NDIwODgyODg5Wj.html\">preliminary results show that Bank of America and Citigroup are under capitalized<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The truth is that it is <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">very<\/span> likely that <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">all<\/span> 19 banking giants are under capitalized, and that Citi and BoA are <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">insolvent<\/span>, but the tests would be universally seen as a joke if they had cited these two banks as needing more capital.<\/p>\n<p>One area of concern here is that there is a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.americanprogress.org\/issues\/2009\/04\/guarding_stress_test.html\">a tremendous opportunity for insider trading and abuse here<\/a>, and no one knows who has the data, and who <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">doesn&#8217;t<\/span>, so I would expect that some people are trading on this, or will be in the next few days.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are already getting reports, and the latest is that preliminary results show that Bank of America and Citigroup are under capitalized.
