{"id":192418,"date":"2009-04-02T17:36:00","date_gmt":"2009-04-02T22:36:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2009\/04\/02\/alaska-republicans-go-cheney-yourselves\/"},"modified":"2009-04-02T17:36:00","modified_gmt":"2009-04-02T22:36:00","slug":"alaska-republicans-go-cheney-yourselves","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2009\/04\/02\/alaska-republicans-go-cheney-yourselves\/","title":{"rendered":"Alaska Republicans: Go Cheney Yourselves"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the wake of the DoJ&#8217;s decision to drop charges against Ted Stevens, <a href=\"http:\/\/community.adn.com\/adn\/node\/140057\">Alaskan Republicans are calling for Mark Begich to resign so that they can get a new election<\/a> for Senate.<\/p>\n<p>Because, you know, some people probably voted for Begich because Stevens was a convicted felon, because, you know, no one <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">ever<\/span> votes on information that might not be 100% accurate.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s be clear, Ted Stevens is still a <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">completely corrupt son of a bitch<\/span>, even if the Beltway Bozos and their Evil Minions<sup>\u2122<\/sup> are now wringing their hands over the injustice, as <a href=\"http:\/\/tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com\/2009\/04\/beltway_establishments_misplaced_orgy_of_stevens_s.php\">Zachary Roth ably makes clear<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 153);\"><p>But even leaving criminal wrongdoing aside, no one disputes that Stevens accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of home renovations and gifts (remember that massage chair?) from a supporter who had a slew of business interests that Stevens was in a position to affect as a powerful federal lawmaker and appropriator.
