(Note that this number does <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">not<\/span> include the port of Long Beach)<\/p>\n<p>Also, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nahb.org\/news_details.aspx?sectionID=134&amp;newsID=8779\">Builder Sentiment Index is unchanged<\/a>, and so it remains near its record low, so real estate is still dead.<\/p>\n<p>At least people are <a href=\"http:\/\/money.cnn.com\/2009\/03\/16\/news\/economy\/treasury_international_capital\/index.htm\">still willing to buy US government debt at reasonably low interest rates<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In energy, <a href=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/article\/SB123713196857333001.html?mod=rss_whats_news_us\">OPEC kept production targets unchanged yesterday<\/a>, and so <a href=\"http:\/\/money.cnn.com\/2009\/03\/16\/markets\/oil\/\">oil rose today<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In currency, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marketwatch.com\/news\/story\/Dollar-loses-steam-manufacturing-data\/story.aspx?guid=%7B03529628-5CB9-4D51-AF04-AD6BA2FCB196%7D\">the dollar fell on the poor manufacturing numbers<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Scary production graph courtesy of Calculated Risk Industrial production has fallen for the 4th straight month, and the year over year decline is the largest since 1975, and the New York Fed&#8217;s Empire State Manufacturing Survey fell to a record low, so no one is manufacturing much of anything.
