{"id":192943,"date":"2009-02-02T18:41:00","date_gmt":"2009-02-02T23:41:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2009\/02\/02\/zimbabwe-government-formed-etc\/"},"modified":"2009-02-02T18:41:00","modified_gmt":"2009-02-02T23:41:00","slug":"zimbabwe-government-formed-etc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2009\/02\/02\/zimbabwe-government-formed-etc\/","title":{"rendered":"Zimbabwe Government Formed, Etc."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It appears that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/hostednews\/afp\/article\/ALeqM5hj1LJsR6JgrP_u4NsExlP9VZu9Fg\">their parliament has passed a bill allowing for a unity government<\/a>, as a result of the strong-arming of former South African president Mbeki and the South African Development Community (SADC).<\/p>\n<p>As I&#8217;ve said before, I think that this will work as well as Nkomo&#8217;s incorporation into Zimbabwe government, as in not at all.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dw-world.de\/dw\/article\/0,,3995416,00.html\">EU will maintain sanctions against ZANU-PF officials<\/a>, even though the<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.voanews.com\/english\/Africa\/2009-02-02-voa2.cfm\">African Union has asked them to be lifted<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This is a good thing.  The upper levels of ZANU-PF are nothing more than thieves, and denying them easy access to banks to hide their ill-gotten gains is a good start, particularly when <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/2\/hi\/africa\/7865259.stm\">Zimbabwe was just forced to issue new dollars<\/a> worth a <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">trillion<\/span> times more than the old ones, because of hyper-inflation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It appears that their parliament has passed a bill allowing for a unity government, as a result of the strong-arming of former South African president Mbeki and the South African Development Community (SADC).
