{"id":193423,"date":"2008-12-16T22:02:00","date_gmt":"2008-12-17T03:02:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2008\/12\/16\/election-update-12\/"},"modified":"2008-12-16T22:02:00","modified_gmt":"2008-12-17T03:02:00","slug":"election-update-12","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2008\/12\/16\/election-update-12\/","title":{"rendered":"Election Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.startribune.com\/politics\/national\/senate\/36207459.html\">Star Tribune had a &#8220;reader analysis&#8221;<\/a> of images of some of the challenged ballots, and they ran the numbers from that, and concluded that Franken would win.<\/p>\n<p>So, Coleman&#8217;s lawsuit against counting ballots continues, and <a href=\"http:\/\/minnesota.publicradio.org\/display\/web\/2008\/12\/15\/mon_recount_update\/\">the Minnesota Supreme Court has agreed to hear arguments tomorrow<\/a> but they did not grant an injunction, which indicates that they did not see anything earthshaking in the filings.<\/p>\n<p>In the mean time, TPMElectionCentral has been live blogging the canvassing board, and we have notice that the <a href=\"http:\/\/tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com\/2008\/12\/after_a_long_day_coleman_camp.php\">Coleman campaign is reissuing challenges to ballots that it had previously withdrawn<\/a>, and that Franken&#8217;s challenges, which were reviewed first (it&#8217;s going to be a multi-day process at least) <a href=\"http:\/\/tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com\/2008\/12\/today_in_the_minnesota_recount.php\">seem to be generally be well received by the board<\/a>, i.e. not considered bogus, and he&#8217;s picked up about 43 votes, which is ahead of where Franken&#8217;s team was predicting the numbers, and they predicted a 4 vote win.<\/p>\n<p>Again, this is going to be tight in either case.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Well, the Star Tribune had a &#8220;reader analysis&#8221; of images of some of the challenged ballots, and they ran the numbers from that, and concluded that Franken would win.
