{"id":193669,"date":"2008-11-25T18:25:00","date_gmt":"2008-11-25T23:25:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2008\/11\/25\/obama-staffing-update-13\/"},"modified":"2008-11-25T18:25:00","modified_gmt":"2008-11-25T23:25:00","slug":"obama-staffing-update-13","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2008\/11\/25\/obama-staffing-update-13\/","title":{"rendered":"Obama Staffing Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nell Lancaster at a Tiny Revolution <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tinyrevolution.com\/mt\/archives\/002710.html\">has a very good point<\/a>, &#8220;President-elect Obama just made public the choices for his administration&#8217;s &#8216;economic team.&#8217; What sort of signal does it send that a <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Secretary of Labor was not among them<\/span>?&#8221; (<span style=\"font-style: italic;\">emphasis mine<\/span>)<\/p>\n<p>On the good news side of the equation, we have <a href=\"http:\/\/www.salon.com\/opinion\/greenwald\/2008\/11\/25\/john_brennan\/index.html\">John Brennan withdrawing his name from consideration as head of the CIA<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I guess that all the DFHs<sup>*<\/sup> objecting to his consistently pro-torture, pro rendition, and anti-civil rights statements won.<\/p>\n<p>We are also seeing reports that <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.abcnews.com\/politicalradar\/2008\/11\/gates-cabinet-a.html\">Robert Gates will be the choice for SecDef<\/a>, and that he would continue in the role that he assumed under Bush and His Evil Minions<sup>\u2122<\/sup> for at least a year into the Obama administration.<\/p>\n<p>Not too impressed with that.
