We had Obama&#8217;s statement (which I see as correct, he is President elect, and should give the Senate its due) where he said that it was a Senate matter, and now <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2008\/11\/11\/clintons-deny-pushing-for_n_142982.html\">the Clintons are denying that they were making calls supporting Lieberman<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Also, we have reports that <a href=\"http:\/\/firedoglake.com\/2008\/11\/11\/schumer-and-durbin-want-lieberman-stripped-of-homeland-security-chair\/\">Schumer and Durbin Lieberman removed as head of the Homeland Security Committee<\/a>, and since Schumer raised a lot of money for the incoming Senators, this may be a big factor.<\/p>\n<p>TPM is now confirming that<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com\/2008\/11\/its_official_full_dem_caucus_w.php\">the full Democratic caucus will vote on his remaining DHS chair<\/a>, and so this makes <a href=\"http:\/\/www.openleft.com\/showDiary.do?diaryId=9875\">Chris Bowers&#8217; whip count<\/a> interesting reading.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t think that Dems should eject Lieberman from the caucus, but he should not be a chairman, <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">with subpoena power<\/span>, of anything beyond the knitting committee.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The dynamics of the whole thing seem to be interesting.
