{"id":193914,"date":"2008-11-07T18:21:00","date_gmt":"2008-11-07T23:21:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2008\/11\/07\/election-updates-10\/"},"modified":"2008-11-07T18:21:00","modified_gmt":"2008-11-07T23:21:00","slug":"election-updates-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2008\/11\/07\/election-updates-10\/","title":{"rendered":"Election Updates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Just a note on Alaska, the actual balloting <a href=\"http:\/\/voices.washingtonpost.com\/washingtonpostinvestigations\/2008\/11\/alaska_turnout_results_raise_q.html?hpid=news-col-blogs\">appears to be very screwed up<\/a>, surprising given the fact that they have such a small number of votes to count.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not calling conspiracy, it appears that this is a perennial thing and it happened in 2004 too.<\/p>\n<p>Still, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/topNews\/idUSTRE4A58X420081106?feedType=RSS&amp;feedName=topNews\">Stevens is clinging to a slim lead<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not sure if I want him to lose, or if I want him to be expelled by the Senate.  Which ever hurts him more.<\/p>\n<p>The man has been a cancer on the body politic for decades.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s looking <a href=\"http:\/\/vote.wa.gov\/Elections\/WEI\/ResultsByCounty.aspx?ElectionID=26&amp;RaceID=12&amp;CountyCode=%20&amp;JurisdictionTypeID=3&amp;RaceTypeCode=O&amp;ViewMode=Results\">worse for Darcy Burner<\/a> in WA-8.  She is down about 5200 votes.<\/p>\n<p>And Coleman\/Franken Senate race in Minnesota is still to close to call.  What was an 800 vote margin is now a 239 vote margin, and that&#8217;s before the recount starts.
