{"id":194148,"date":"2008-10-19T09:13:00","date_gmt":"2008-10-19T14:13:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2008\/10\/19\/stop-jenny-mccarthy\/"},"modified":"2008-10-19T09:13:00","modified_gmt":"2008-10-19T14:13:00","slug":"stop-jenny-mccarthy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2008\/10\/19\/stop-jenny-mccarthy\/","title":{"rendered":"Stop Jenny McCarthy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There is a website about Jenny McCarthy, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.site.stopjenny.com\/\">the lies that she spreads<\/a> regarding conditions on the Autism spectrum.<\/p>\n<p>I have a child on the Autism Spectrum (Aspergers), and my wife noted signs <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">at birth<\/span>, and had specific concerns about a condition on the spectrum before he turned 3, but my anecdote is no more valid than McCarthy&#8217;s where she claims that vaccines cause autism, and that her son &#8220;recovered&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Neither happen in Autism.  The data is clear: there is <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">no<\/span> correlation between Autism Spectrum disorders and vaccines.<\/p>\n<p>While correlation does not prove causation, <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">lack<\/span> of correlation does prove <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">lack<\/span> of causation, and this has been proved dozens of times.<\/p>\n<p>As to &#8220;curing&#8221; people on the spectrum, you can&#8217;t, as is the case with children &#8220;recovering&#8221; from Autism.  They aren&#8217;t broken, they are <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">different<\/span>, and so they need to learn how to bridge the gap with the rest of the world.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There is a website about Jenny McCarthy, and the lies that she spreads regarding conditions on the Autism spectrum.
