{"id":194290,"date":"2008-10-10T14:55:00","date_gmt":"2008-10-10T19:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2008\/10\/10\/put-a-fork-in-him-ted-hulk-stevens-is-done\/"},"modified":"2008-10-10T14:55:00","modified_gmt":"2008-10-10T19:55:00","slug":"put-a-fork-in-him-ted-hulk-stevens-is-done","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2008\/10\/10\/put-a-fork-in-him-ted-hulk-stevens-is-done\/","title":{"rendered":"Put a Fork in Him, Ted &#8220;Hulk&#8221; Stevens is Done"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Even though the judge excluded some evidence and will <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2008\/10\/09\/washington\/09stevens.html\">notify the jury that the prosecutors were untruthful<\/a>, I think that he&#8217;s done.  <\/p>\n<p>He will be convicted.<\/p>\n<p>This because <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2008\/10\/07\/washington\/07stevens.html?_r=1&amp;hp&amp;oref=slogin\">they have &#8220;Uncle Ted&#8221; on tape saying that they might go to jail for what they had done<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In the three conversations between Mr. Stevens and Mr. Allen played for a federal jury on Monday, Mr. Stevens repeatedly says he believes they did nothing wrong, but also raises the possibility they could go to jail if they are not careful.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re not going to shoot us,\u201d Mr. Stevens reassured Mr. Allen on Oct. 18, 2006. \u201cIt\u2019s not Iraq.\u201d At worst, he said, \u201cwe might have to pay a fine and serve a little time in jail.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Stevens added, \u201cI hope to Christ it never gets to that, but I don\u2019t think it will.\u201d <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It doesn&#8217;t matter how stupid the prosecution is, Stevens admitted that he was doing something illegal on tape.<\/p>\n<p>It doesn&#8217;t matter how many <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/story\/0,2933,435522,00.html\">character witnesses there are<\/a>, and the list includes Hawaii Senator Daniel Inouye, and champion dog mushers, and &#8220;Hobo Bob.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The man has been a cancer on good governance for a very long time, and while his exit may not serve the Alaskan people, it will serve the American people.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Even though the judge excluded some evidence and will notify the jury that the prosecutors were untruthful, I think that he&#8217;s done.
