{"id":194802,"date":"2008-08-18T05:05:00","date_gmt":"2008-08-18T10:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2008\/08\/18\/nouriel-roubini-gets-profiled-in-the-ny-times\/"},"modified":"2008-08-18T05:05:00","modified_gmt":"2008-08-18T10:05:00","slug":"nouriel-roubini-gets-profiled-in-the-ny-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2008\/08\/18\/nouriel-roubini-gets-profiled-in-the-ny-times\/","title":{"rendered":"Nouriel Roubini Gets Profiled in the NY Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>They call him <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2008\/08\/17\/magazine\/17pessimist-t.html?_r=2&amp;pagewanted=1&amp;ref=business&amp;oref=slogin&amp;oref=slogin\">Dr. Doom<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a rather nice profile of Dr. Roubini, though I agree with <a href=\"http:\/\/krugman.blogs.nytimes.com\/2008\/08\/16\/doomsayer\/\">Paul Krugman<\/a> that his prediction of a housing crash was hardly unique, and that they missed what <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">was<\/span> special about his predictions, that there would be as Krugman says, &#8220;there would be large \u201cknock-on\u201d effects from the bursting bubble on the financial system&#8221;, i.e. the credit crunch as we are currently experiencing it.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly enough, it looks like the crisis will exceed Roubini&#8217;s most pessimistic projections, which is kind of scary.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>They call him Dr. Doom.
