{"id":195192,"date":"2008-07-24T17:21:00","date_gmt":"2008-07-24T22:21:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2008\/07\/24\/novaks-hit-and-run-victim-still-in-hospital\/"},"modified":"2008-07-24T17:21:00","modified_gmt":"2008-07-24T22:21:00","slug":"novaks-hit-and-run-victim-still-in-hospital","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2008\/07\/24\/novaks-hit-and-run-victim-still-in-hospital\/","title":{"rendered":"Novak&#8217;s Hit and Run Victim Still in Hospital"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It appears that the victim, 86 year old Don Clifford Liljenquist, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wjla.com\/news\/stories\/0708\/537957.html\">is in worse shape than previously reported<\/a>, and is still in the hospital, though this may be complicated by his age and history of homelessness.<\/p>\n<p>All Novak has gotten out of this is a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2008\/07\/24\/AR2008072402099.html?hpid=moreheadlines\">$50 fine<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Considering the reports of witnesses, there should be further investigation&#8230;but there won&#8217;t be, because Bob Novak is above the law.<\/p>\n<p>The Plame-Wlsons have <a href=\"http:\/\/latimesblogs.latimes.com\/presidentbush\/2008\/07\/novak-pedestria.html\">issued a statement which bears repeating<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 153);\"><p>    Our sympathies go out to the victim of Novak\u2019s action. Once again Novak has demonstrated his callous disregard for the rights of others, as well as his chronic inability to accept responsibility for his actions.<\/p>\n<p> We have long argued that responsible adults should take Novak\u2019s typewriter away.
