{"id":196251,"date":"2008-05-13T21:10:00","date_gmt":"2008-05-14T02:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2008\/05\/13\/todays-elections\/"},"modified":"2008-05-13T21:10:00","modified_gmt":"2008-05-14T02:10:00","slug":"todays-elections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2008\/05\/13\/todays-elections\/","title":{"rendered":"Today&#8217;s Elections"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hillary stomped Barack in West Virginia&#8230;.No Surprise there.<\/p>\n<p>However, there are some <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">other<\/span> elections of interest, in Mississippi, you have Democrat Travis Childers running against Greg Davis in a district that went 62%-37% for Bush in 2004.<\/p>\n<p>Childers won the first round, but was just short of an absolute majority, and as of about 10pm EST, courtesy of the <a href=\"http:\/\/cottonmouthblog.blogspot.com\/\">Cotton Mouth Blog<\/a>:<br \/>CHILDERS (D) 42,029 &#8211; 51%<br \/>DAVIS (R) 40,275 &#8211; 49%<br \/>(366 of 462 precints reporting)<\/p>\n<p>Update: <a href=\"http:\/\/hosted.ap.org\/dynamic\/files\/elections\/2008\/by_county\/MS_Page_0513.html?SITE=MSJADELN&amp;SECTION=POLITICS\">AP Calls it for Childers<\/a>, and there was much rejoicing.<\/p>\n<p>We also have a primary contest in Nebraska between Scott Kleeb and Tony Raimondo for US Senate.  Kleeb has gotten a fair amount of netroots support, and Raimondo was a Republican until he decided he wanted to run for senate, so I&#8217;m pulling for the guy with the 5 letter name.<\/p>\n<p>At this moment, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sos.ne.gov\/elec\/2008\/ElectNight\/primary.htm\">NE Secretary of State<\/a> is showing Kleeb with a 68%-26% lead over Raimondo with 24% reporting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hillary stomped Barack in West Virginia&#8230;.No Surprise there.
