{"id":196422,"date":"2008-04-29T05:02:00","date_gmt":"2008-04-29T10:02:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2008\/04\/29\/more-signs-and-pictures-that-official-government-inflation-stats-are-bs\/"},"modified":"2008-04-29T05:02:00","modified_gmt":"2008-04-29T10:02:00","slug":"more-signs-and-pictures-that-official-government-inflation-stats-are-bs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2008\/04\/29\/more-signs-and-pictures-that-official-government-inflation-stats-are-bs\/","title":{"rendered":"More Signs (and Pictures) that Official Government Inflation Stats are BS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are starting to see more articles, like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.signonsandiego.com\/news\/business\/20080417-9999-1n17inflate.html#inflate\">this at San Diego Union Tribune<\/a>, noting that official government inflation statistics are a crock.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/pic60.picturetrail.com\/VOL1689\/10590113\/19309802\/315284078.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I will note that the changes in 1983 to a large degree took housing out of the picture, which is why Alan &#8220;Bubbles&#8221; Greenspan was so bullish on real estate<sup>*<\/sup>, and those in  1998 used <a href=\"http:\/\/40yrs.blogspot.com\/2008\/04\/press-beginning-to-notice-that.html\">hedonic mumbo-jumbo to create the illusion of low inflation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If you assume that inflation is 2% more than official numbers over the past 35 years, prices have doubled relative to official inflation at 3\u00bc% more, it&#8217;s triples, and at 4%, it quadruples.<\/p>\n<p>We may be seeing a tremendous drop in the standard of living of the average American over that time that has been deliberately masked by our government.<\/p>\n<p><sup>*<\/sup><span style=\"font-size:85%;\">It allowed him to call inflation in a necessity, housing, an increase in wealth.
