{"id":196487,"date":"2008-04-23T05:03:00","date_gmt":"2008-04-23T10:03:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2008\/04\/23\/obama-just-pissed-me-off\/"},"modified":"2008-04-23T05:03:00","modified_gmt":"2008-04-23T10:03:00","slug":"obama-just-pissed-me-off","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2008\/04\/23\/obama-just-pissed-me-off\/","title":{"rendered":"Obama Just Pissed Me Off"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have been an involuntary student of conditions on the Autism spectrum by virtue of my son having Aspergers (see <a href=\"http:\/\/40yrs.blogspot.com\/2007\/10\/autism-echo-chamber-birthday-party.html\">here<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/40yrs.blogspot.com\/2007\/12\/culinary-adventures-chicken-and-seaweed.html\">here<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/40yrs.blogspot.com\/2008\/03\/charlies-iep-meeting.html\">here<\/a>), so I have looked at the evidence (see <a href=\"http:\/\/40yrs.blogspot.com\/2007\/06\/autism-debate-strains-family-and-its.html\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/40yrs.blogspot.com\/2008\/01\/thimerosal-does-not-cause-autism.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">here<\/span><\/a>) and it is clear that there is no link.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve also lambasted people who are<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/40yrs.blogspot.com\/2008\/03\/parents-putting-children-and-community.html\">putting their community and children at risk<\/a>, because they are stupid and unthinking, which would, of course, include  <a href=\"http:\/\/40yrs.blogspot.com\/2008\/03\/does-mccain-know-anything-about.html\">McCain&#8217;s claim<\/a> that there is an explicit link.<\/p>\n<p>Well, now we have Obama <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.washingtonpost.com\/fact-checker\/2008\/04\/dr_obama_and_dr_mccain.html\">saying that the science is not yet settled<\/a> on Autism and vaccines.  While he does so in the context of promising additional funding for early interventions (BTW, <a href=\"http:\/\/40yrs.blogspot.com\/2007\/11\/clinton-promises-major-increase-in.html\">Hillary was first on suggesting funding for this<\/a>), by promoting this junk science, junk science that has sickenes thousands of children in the US every year, he pisses me off.<\/p>\n<p>There are (very small) risks to vaccines, which is why the US government has a vaccine fund, but Autism is not one of them.<\/p>\n<p>The anti-vaccine folks should be treated with nothing but disdain, much like the nut-job Mullahs in Northern Nigeria who sabotaged the polio eradication project because they thought it a secret plan to sterilize them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have been an involuntary student of conditions on the Autism spectrum by virtue of my son having Aspergers (see here, here, and here), so I have looked at the evidence (see here and here) and it is clear that there is no link.
