{"id":196591,"date":"2008-04-10T16:43:00","date_gmt":"2008-04-10T21:43:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2008\/04\/10\/more-on-the-wecht-political-show-trial\/"},"modified":"2008-04-10T16:43:00","modified_gmt":"2008-04-10T21:43:00","slug":"more-on-the-wecht-political-show-trial","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2008\/04\/10\/more-on-the-wecht-political-show-trial\/","title":{"rendered":"More on the Wecht Political Show Trial"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well, it appears that things are getting weirder in the aftermath of the Cyril Wecht trial.<\/p>\n<p>First, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.post-gazette.com\/pg\/08100\/871605-85.stm\">judge has placed a gag order on the jury<\/a> until after the retrial, which was described by Wecht&#8217;s lawyer, and I agree, as extremely unusual.<\/p>\n<p>Among other things, I would assume that the Lawyers would not want to talk to the Jurors to get some insights for the retrial.<\/p>\n<p>In any case, some of the jurors talked, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pittsburghlive.com\/x\/pittsburghtrib\/news\/cityregion\/s_561365.html\">it&#8217;s clear that the majority though that they should acquit<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I will note that from what I&#8217;ve read Schwab appears to be a complete political hack, and a disgrace to the bench.
