Unlike the Hakeem family, the army and police really don&#8217;t like fighting for the idea of greater Iranian hegemony in Iraq, which is clearly the goal of the current government.<\/p>\n<p>Sadr is the only major Shia player who <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">isn&#8217;t<\/span> in the Iranian&#8217;s pockets, but he&#8217;s the one we are targeting air strikes at.<\/p>\n<p>In any case, after some It appears that<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcclatchydc.com\/world\/story\/32013.html\">fits and starts<\/a>, negotiations finally got underway, with an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcclatchydc.com\/homepage\/story\/32055.html\">Iranian general brokering the cease fire<\/a> which is not in effect, if only barely (see <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcclatchydc.com\/world\/story\/32038.html\">here<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.msnbc.msn.com\/id\/23866765\/\">here<\/a>, and <br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2008\/03\/31\/world\/middleeast\/31iraq.html?_r=1&amp;hp=&amp;oref=slogin&amp;pagewanted=all\">here<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>If you are wondering who won this, just reflect on Sadr&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2008\/03\/31\/world\/middleeast\/31cnd-iraq.html?_r=1&amp;hp&amp;oref=slogin\">terms for a truce<\/a>, release of all Sadrists not convicted of crimes, and amnesty for members of the Mahdi militia.<\/p>\n<p>This is a victory for him, and for Iran.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Busy past few days.
