{"id":196963,"date":"2008-03-11T17:03:00","date_gmt":"2008-03-11T22:03:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2008\/03\/11\/us-poised-to-f-it-up-yet-again-with-dprk\/"},"modified":"2008-03-11T17:03:00","modified_gmt":"2008-03-11T22:03:00","slug":"us-poised-to-f-it-up-yet-again-with-dprk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2008\/03\/11\/us-poised-to-f-it-up-yet-again-with-dprk\/","title":{"rendered":"US Poised to F*&#038;^ It Up Yet Again With DPRK"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So, the US is now <a href=\"http:\/\/www.defencetalk.com\/news\/publish\/wmd\/US_wants_clear_signal_from_NKorea_over_nuclear_declaration170015260.php\">demanding some sort of &#8220;clear signal&#8221; in order for negotiations to proceed<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The problem here is that there are people in political positions, who I won&#8217;t name for fear that they will get drunk and shoot me in the face, who believe that negotiations of any sort are a victory for North Korea, and a defeat for the US, so the directives come down to keep erecting road blocks.<\/p>\n<p>The North Koreans are not crazy.  They are secretive, in many ways criminal, largely uncaring about the wellbeing of their population, and paranoid, but they are not crazy.<\/p>\n<p>They honestly believe, and have believed for the last 50 years, that the US is planning a sneak attack against them in the hope of decapitating their regime and taking over their country.<\/p>\n<p>Every time there is progress in discussions, and then the US creates <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">another stupid hoop to jump through<\/span>, it <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">reinforces<\/span> that belief.<\/p>\n<p>This is well and truly stupid.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So, the US is now demanding some sort of &#8220;clear signal&#8221; in order for negotiations to proceed.
