{"id":196982,"date":"2008-03-10T22:14:00","date_gmt":"2008-03-11T03:14:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2008\/03\/10\/i-dont-think-that-im-a-real-blogger\/"},"modified":"2008-03-10T22:14:00","modified_gmt":"2008-03-11T03:14:00","slug":"i-dont-think-that-im-a-real-blogger","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2008\/03\/10\/i-dont-think-that-im-a-real-blogger\/","title":{"rendered":"I Don&#8217;t Think that I&#8217;m a Real Blogger"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I just discovered that both <a href=\"http:\/\/matthewyglesias.theatlantic.com\/archives\/2008\/03\/the_phone_call.php\">Matthew Yglesias<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/atrios.blogspot.com\/2008_03_09_archive.html#5431841095378866226\">Duncan &#8220;Atrios&#8221; Black<\/a> really hate making phone calls.<\/p>\n<p>Personally, I&#8217;ve never done a whole bunch of phone calling for social purposes, except for when I was away from various girl friends, but I have used the phone to communicate information effectively.<\/p>\n<p>I ran a bloody <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arisia.org\/\">Science Fiction Convention<\/a> with most of my staff on the other side of Massachusetts in 1990 and 1991, before meaningful email was common.<\/p>\n<p>I would make phone calls, communicate my information, and get off.  I wasn&#8217;t elegant of sparkling, but I worked the phone well.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t understand &#8220;hating the phone&#8221;, any more than I understand hating postal mail, or email.<\/p>\n<p>I do hate junk mail of all forms, that is content, rather than medium based.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I just discovered that both Matthew Yglesias and Duncan &#8220;Atrios&#8221; Black really hate making phone calls.
