It happened  to IBM, and they had to pay $65 million in back pay, and they reclassified about 7600 workers as &#8220;non-exempt&#8221;, meaning qualifying for overtime pay.<\/p>\n<p>IBM took another step too, they <a href=\"http:\/\/www.siliconvalley.com\/latestheadlines\/ci_8054808?nclick_check=1\">cut the base pay of these workers by 15%<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>If you do the math, they have to work 45 hours to earn what they previously made at 40.<\/p>\n<p>And economists wonder why the average American is not satisfied with our &#8220;wonderful&#8221; economy.<\/p>\n<p>BTW, I think you could make an argument that this is illegal retaliation.
