{"id":197916,"date":"2008-01-02T17:55:00","date_gmt":"2008-01-02T22:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2008\/01\/02\/more-obama-asshattery\/"},"modified":"2008-01-02T17:55:00","modified_gmt":"2008-01-02T22:55:00","slug":"more-obama-asshattery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2008\/01\/02\/more-obama-asshattery\/","title":{"rendered":"More Obama Asshattery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This time, <a href=\"http:\/\/weblogs.newsday.com\/news\/local\/longisland\/politics\/blog\/2007\/12\/obama_gore_kerry_alienated_hal.html\">he appears to be going after Gore and Kerry<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 153);\">In a speech this afternoon in central Iowa, Barack Obama seems to have widened his criticism of the politics of the past to encompass not only Hillary Clinton but John Kerry and Nobel Laureate Al Gore.<\/span>  <span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 153);\">Making an argument for his electability, Obama said, &#8220;I don&#8217;t want to go into the next election starting off with half the country already not wanting to vote for Democrats &#8212; we&#8217;ve done that in 2004, 2000,&#8221; according to a person at the event.<\/span> <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The first comment to the post says it very well, &#8220;His arrogance and sense of <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">entitlement<\/span> are not just inaccurate, his remarks are insulting and stupid.&#8221;(<span style=\"font-style: italic;\">emphasis mine<\/span>)<\/p>\n<p>I would add that <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><span style=\"font-variant: small-caps;\">Al Gore got more votes than George Bush<\/span><\/span>, and the problem with both campaigns is that they were unwilling to call out George W. Bush specifically, and the Republicans generally for their incompetence and corruption.<\/p>\n<p>You also have Barack Obama going after Labor Unions political involvement:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 153);\">And top union officials who support Obama\u2019s rivals are in turn accusing the Illinois Democrat, who once sought their endorsements, of trying to damage labor\u2019s political role.<\/span>  <span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 153);\">\u201cI\u2019m taken aback that somebody like Obama would think that Oprah Winfrey has a greater right to participate in the political process than the 4 million people I represent,\u201d Edward J. McElroy, the president of the American Federation of Teachers, which has spent $799,619 on New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton\u2019s behalf, said, referring to the television host\u2019s high-profile support for Obama. \u201cIt\u2019s sour grapes. It sounds just like the charges the Republicans make.\u201d<\/span> <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It appears that there is no Democratic constituency that he is unwilling to &#8220;Sistah Soljah&#8221;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This time, he appears to be going after Gore and Kerry.
