{"id":198979,"date":"2007-09-21T04:59:00","date_gmt":"2007-09-21T09:59:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2007\/09\/21\/my-thoughts-on-jena\/"},"modified":"2007-09-21T04:59:00","modified_gmt":"2007-09-21T09:59:00","slug":"my-thoughts-on-jena","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2007\/09\/21\/my-thoughts-on-jena\/","title":{"rendered":"My Thoughts on Jena"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I haven&#8217;t really commented on this, but I&#8217;ve gotten a couple of comments to the effect of, &#8220;Isn&#8217;t this a tempest in a teapot.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Answer is <span style=\"font-variant: small-caps; font-weight: bold;font-size:180%;\" >Hell No<\/span><span style=\"font-size:180%;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">!!!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s roll tape:<br \/><span><\/p>\n<ul><\/p>\n<li>Some black kids hang out under a &#8220;white&#8221; tree, and nooses are hung on it the next day.<\/li>\n<li>The principal wants to expel the f$#@s who did this, but the school board makes it a two f<span>$#@<\/span>ing day suspension.<\/li>\n<li>The black students decide to sit quietly under the tree as a non-violent protest.<\/li>\n<li>The police are called in, and the DA threatens the black kids (and it&#8217;s clear that is what he did) at a school assembly.<\/li>\n<li>Tensions are inflamed with at least two instances of groups of white kids beating down a black kid, no prosecutions.<\/li>\n<li>The same school board that allowed the noose hanging perps to walk refused to allow black students and parents to testify before them.<\/li>\n<li>In the fight in question, the kid who was beaten up, but is not even kept over night.<\/li>\n<li>The students involved in the fight are charged by the same <span style=\"font-size:130%;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">DA who threatened<\/span><\/span> them with <span style=\"font-size:130%;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">attempted murder<\/span><\/span>.<\/li>\n<li>The one student who has made it to trial maintains that he wasn&#8217;t even there, but his public defender refuses to call any witness and the <span style=\"font-size:130%;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">all white jury<\/span><\/span> convicts him of aggravated assault.<\/li>\n<li>That conviction has been overturned because an appellate judge basically said, &#8220;are you out of your f$#@ing mind charging this kid as an adult.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> You&#8217;re right, it&#8217;s just some uppity n***ers, no discrimination here.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I haven&#8217;t really commented on this, but I&#8217;ve gotten a couple of comments to the effect of, &#8220;Isn&#8217;t this a tempest in a teapot.&#8221; The Answer is Hell No!!!
