{"id":199134,"date":"2007-09-04T05:07:00","date_gmt":"2007-09-04T10:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2007\/09\/04\/huckabee-surging\/"},"modified":"2007-09-04T05:07:00","modified_gmt":"2007-09-04T10:07:00","slug":"huckabee-surging","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2007\/09\/04\/huckabee-surging\/","title":{"rendered":"Huckabee Surging"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Once again, I am wrong in a prediction.  <a href=\"http:\/\/tpmelectioncentral.com\/2007\/08\/polls_hillary_ahead_in_ia_nh_and_sc_and_huckabee_ascending_with_gop.php\">Huckabee is surging in polls<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>I had kind of written him off as being too Arkansas, and too formerly fat.<\/p>\n<p>My early prediction was for Brownback, who I think is rather more telegenic, but is going nowhere.<\/p>\n<p>By way of lame excuse, I did not realize that Brownback was Catholic, which is a big strike against him in the Republican primary.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, I think that Huckabee&#8217;s life story has a redemption element, specifically his dropping over 100 pounds and getting in shape.<\/p>\n<p>People love a redemption element, and being morbidly obese is pretty mild as a problem to recover from, compared to something like, bribes, diapers, or men&#8217;s room pickups.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, the fact that I was wrong about this is one more reason why my making predictions scares me.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Once again, I am wrong in a prediction.
