{"id":199295,"date":"2007-08-15T05:00:00","date_gmt":"2007-08-15T10:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2007\/08\/15\/billo-hacks-wicki\/"},"modified":"2007-08-15T05:00:00","modified_gmt":"2007-08-15T10:00:00","slug":"billo-hacks-wicki","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2007\/08\/15\/billo-hacks-wicki\/","title":{"rendered":"Billo Hacks Wicki"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It appears that Bill O&#8217;Reilley, or one of his evil minions<sup>\u2122<\/sup> at Fox News, <a href=\"http:\/\/radar.oreilly.com\/archives\/2007\/08\/wikipedia_is_on.html\">hacked Wikipedia<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s much less amusing than when <a href=\"http:\/\/spring.newsvine.com\/_news\/2006\/08\/01\/307864-stephen-colbert-causes-chaos-on-wikipedia-gets-blocked-from-site\">Stephen Colbert hacked Wiki<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Scratch that&#8230;.It&#8217;s just as funny, but we are laughing at <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">at<\/span>  Billo, not <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">with<\/span> him.<\/p>\n<p>He\/They got caught because a <a href=\"http:\/\/wikiscanner.virgil.gr\/\">tool has been developed to allow for easy searches of Wiki edits and IP addresses<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Here is the edit:<br \/>Original: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The lawsuit focused a great deal of media attention upon Franken&#8217;s book and greatly enhanced its sales.
