{"id":199450,"date":"2007-07-26T22:57:00","date_gmt":"2007-07-27T03:57:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2007\/07\/26\/tillman-coverup-may-obscure-a-murder\/"},"modified":"2007-07-26T22:57:00","modified_gmt":"2007-07-27T03:57:00","slug":"tillman-coverup-may-obscure-a-murder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2007\/07\/26\/tillman-coverup-may-obscure-a-murder\/","title":{"rendered":"Tillman Coverup May Obscure a Murder"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While it has been clear for some time that Pat Tillman&#8217;s death resulted in an orgy of military ass covering, it now appears that there are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.forbes.com\/feeds\/ap\/2007\/07\/26\/ap3958728.html\">uninvestigated evidence of foul play<\/a>, so the friendly fire might not be so friendly.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s already clear that Tillman, who was killed in Afghanistan, did not like Bush, and thought that Iraq was an illegal war, but here are the quick points of the article:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The doctors &#8211; whose names were blacked out &#8211; said that the bullet holes were so close together that it appeared the Army Ranger was cut down by an M-16 fired from a mere 10 yards or so away.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>In his last words moments before he was killed, Tillman snapped at a panicky comrade under fire to shut up and stop &#8220;sniveling.&#8221;<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Army attorneys sent each other congratulatory e-mails for keeping criminal investigators at bay as the Army conducted an internal friendly-fire investigation that resulted in administrative, or non-criminal, punishments.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>The three-star general who kept the truth about Tillman&#8217;s death from his family and the public told investigators some 70 times that he had a bad memory and couldn&#8217;t recall details of his actions.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>No evidence at all of enemy fire was found at the scene &#8211; no one was hit by enemy fire, nor was any government equipment struck.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The above General is being demoted, BTW.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>While it has been clear for some time that Pat Tillman&#8217;s death resulted in an orgy of military ass covering, it now appears that there are uninvestigated evidence of foul play, so the friendly fire might not be so friendly.
