{"id":200297,"date":"2021-05-18T18:05:00","date_gmt":"2021-05-18T23:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2021\/05\/18\/cowardly-prosecutor-bullsh\/"},"modified":"2021-05-18T18:05:00","modified_gmt":"2021-05-18T23:05:00","slug":"cowardly-prosecutor-bullsh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.panix.com\/~msaroff\/40years\/2021\/05\/18\/cowardly-prosecutor-bullsh\/","title":{"rendered":"Cowardly Prosecutor Bullsh%$"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Elizabeth City, NC DA Andrew Womble has announced that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2021\/may\/18\/andrew-brown-shooting-deputies-justified-district-attorney\">he will not be charging the officers who unleashed a fusillade of bullets and killed Andrew Brown in his car<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He has also announced that this was a serious investigation, and that he won&#8217;t be releasing the body cam footage, because, f%$# you.<\/p>\n<p>This does not fill me with confidence in the integrity of the investigation:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #2b00fe;\">A North Carolina district attorney on Tuesday said officers were justified in the fatal shooting of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2021\/may\/02\/andrew-brown-police-killing-protests-elizabeth-city-north-carolina\">Andrew Brown Jr<\/a>, a Black man, in April, and that the sheriff\u2019s deputies who fired will not face charges for killing the 42-year-old father of seven.<\/p>\n<p>Andrew Womble said Brown\u2019s death \u201cwhile tragic, was justified\u201d because three deputies \u201creasonably\u201d believed deadly force was necessary to protect themselves and others while serving a warrant for Brown\u2019s arrest on felony drug charges.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026\u2026\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Brown\u2019s death certificate said he died as the result of a gunshot wound to the head. Brown\u2019s family commissioned an independent autopsy which specified that he was shot five times, once to the back of his head.<\/p>\n<p>Womble said he would not release body-camera video of the confrontation, for which Brown\u2019s family and supporters have repeatedly called to ensure integrity in the investigation of his death.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>If the body cam footage were that clear, they would be streaming it on YouTube now.<\/p>\n<p>They are covering it up because they have something to cover up. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Elizabeth City, NC DA Andrew Womble has announced that he will not be charging the officers who unleashed a fusillade of bullets and killed Andrew Brown in his car.
