Translation fahan (Fa1 Han4) = (发汗 or 發汗) literally To Sweat: a technique for accomplishing limited microbial fermentation of compressed pu’ercha, in which just-pressed bingcha, tuocha, etc., still damp, are not removed from the cloth bags they were pressed in, rather the wrapped packages are piled up in a warehouse for some period before sale; this technique is believed to go back to Qing Dai Gong Ting tea at least, and in more recent times has often been used in xinzangxing pu’ercha
