The Allez
In August 2005, I decided my old Hard Rock, purchased in 99 or 2000 was due for retirement. I had retired it from mtb riding November 2004, when I purchased a brand new Full Suspension Bike. The Hard Rock served for commuting and medium length road riding.
The Hard Rock is set up as a mtb bike, but with smoother tires. However, it is not all that comfortable in a road environment, and I wanted something that could go faster.
Enter the Allez. Folletts Mountain Sports, from which I had bought my previous two bikes custom ordered the bike for me, even though I was considering other bikes (the Lemond Tourmolet in particular). I gave the bike a good ride over roads in Moscow, up and down hills, rough roads, even gravel. It was crisp, responsive, but didn’t beat me up. It climbed very well, descended even better. In short I was hooked.
