Reed said he had been particularly proud of his workers this year, despite having fewer pieces of equipment for snow and ice removal.

He said the number of snow removal vehicles has been reduced over the years mostly due to the expectation of "global warming." Reed said many of the businesses contracted by the city cut back on their snow removal capabilities because there has not been enough snow in recent winters to maintain many plows and salters.
